SOCIAL ACTION

SOCIAL ACTION – WHAT YOU CAN DO

The U.S. has 5% of the world’s population but 25% of the world’s prison population. Close to 70% of the adults in state prisons today were once incarcerated as youth in juvenile detention facilities.

You can help to assist at-risk youth and to reform the juvenile justice system by:

Supporting the Youth Promise Act in Congress that would fund “more Father Boyle type organizations,” says LA County Sheriff Lee Baca, “because there should be another way than youth camps.” And

Volunteering in your communities with programs similar to Girls and GangsA Second Chance, and Homeboy Industries (homeboy-industries.org).
